Funerals, Wakes & Fond Farewells

I'll help you organise a personal heartfelt celebration of life

Thoughtful assistance at a difficult time

Organising the Wake

At a time of loss we feel a keen sense of honouring our loved ones and most often feel the need to come together with family and friends to remember them and celebrate their life.

I’d be honoured to support you and your family during this difficult time and help make the necessary arrangements for the wake.

Your Funeral Directors should be happy to arrange a small get together over a cup of tea if you feel this is what you wish to do. Alternatively I am able to help organise something more substantial if you prefer.

Where can I hold a wake?

  • Receive guests at home
  • Hire a Village/Church Hall
  • Local Pub
  • Golf/Sports Club
  • Local Hotel
  • Your loved ones favourite place
  • Something different

Food & Drink for a Wake

Wherever you wish to hold the wake, I can arrange options for your catering.

  • Buffets & Spreads
  • Afternoon Tea
  • Pub lunch
  • Lunches & Dinners
  • Full Catering
  • Something different

Order of Service

Bespoke design and printing for the order of service

Your Funeral Director can organise an Order of Service booklet for you however if you would prefer something a little different then we have experience of creating truly personal Orders of Service. I’d be happy to talk with you about this and present you with a quote so that you can compare this with that of your Funeral Director.

Funeral Flowers

I’d be delighted to organise the funeral flowers on your behalf should you wish to have florals at the funeral service and/or the Wake. My floristry team can offer truly exquisite floral displays and wreaths, church flowers and flowers to decorate the Wake. Whether you’d like a simply posy or something more elaborate, please get in touch to discuss options and prices.

Live Music for Funerals & Wakes

Music plays an important part in so many of our lives and is a fitting accompaniment for fond farewells. Whether it’s the ethereal sound of the harp, the gentle mood of an acoustic guitar, or a favourite song performed by live musicians, if you would like to honour your loved one with a fitting musical tribute please get in touch to discuss your thoughts and I’d be honoured to organise this for you.

  • Live Musicians
  • Bands (e.g. jazz, blues, brass, contemporary, rock)
  • Cover Bands & Artistes
  • Solosits and Singers
  • Something different

Personal Poetry & Readings

Commissioned Poetry for Funerals

Tell me all about your loved one’s life, the anecdotes, the laughter, the ups and downs, the tears, the story of their life and I’ll compose a personal piece of poetry just for them. You can choose the tone of the piece, whether light and humorous or sentimental and heartfelt.

Meaningful Readings for Funerals & Wakes

Does your loved one have a favourite poem or piece of writing they cherished? Perhaps you yourself have a fitting piece of literature you would like professionally read at the service or wake. I’d be honoured to read this for you to take the pressure of family members wishing to avoid standing up in front of the congregation. I am trained in the speaking of verse and prose by the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and have wide experience of public speaking, live reading and performance.

Dog Chaperone at Funerals & Wakes

Very often one of the most important members of the family has four paws and a tail and a fitting send off just wouldn’t feel right without them in attendance. As we all know our furry friends have minds of their own and you will want your attention focussed on the service at hand rather than worrying if they are about to break out into a barking frenzy or need to go ‘outside’.

As a dog lover all my life (some may say addicted to cuddles, kisses and waggy tails) I’d be honoured to chaperone your four legged family member at the funeral or wake. Please contact me to find out more to discuss the best chaperone package for your pooch. Tummy tickles included free of charge.
